To promote best practices for the management of end-of-life tires in Manitoba, a life cycle assessment of tire recycling in Manitoba was conducted by California based Scope 3 Consulting, LLC for the study period of 2017 to 2020 to present the best estimates of environmental performance for end-of-life tire management in the province. The report compares impacts from program activity against impacts of competing products that may be avoided or displaced by using tire-derived materials. The net comparison between these two amounts represents an estimate for the potential benefits of end-of-life tire management. The study found that Manitoba’s short overall transport distances and clean electricity grid produce relatively small impacts and a net environmental benefit for tire recycling in the province.  READ MORE
